Brewery attracts logisticians

Mahou San Miguel, the largest brewery in Spain, operates the third-largest beer production facility in Europe in Alovera. Last year the brewer revealed plans to open up to external users the huge site at the facility, located approximately 50 km east of Madrid. Last summer the company announced that the new logistics facilities that are set to be built for use by new tenants will cover approximately 150,000 m~2. Mahou San Miguel is collaborating with the real estate developer CBRE to realise its latest project. The brewer said the plan was justified on account of the great demand for space from the transport and logistics industry in the Madrid capital city area alone. The compound's direct motorway access should also quickly attract suitable tenants to the small town. In the meantime the project has progressed and local politicians are optimistic. "We expect this move to create 400 new jobs here," said Emiliano Garcia-Page, president of the autonomous community of Castilla-La Mancha, following a meeting with brewery president Jose Antonio Mahou Herraiz in January.
