Direct Port Klang-Lisbon service

The shipping line CSAV Norasia has announced the establishment of a new direct connection between Port Klang (Malaysia) and Lisbon (Portugal), which will be operated in the framework of its ANE service. Lisbon will be the first port of call in Europe, before Le Havre, in northern France. The shipping line said that the new service will offer ten days' shorter transit times in comparison with the old one. It will deploy eight units with an average capacity of 6,000 teu. The vessels will take 21 days to sail from Port Klang to Europe via the Suez Canal. The line said that it had chosen Lisbon because the port - which is located at the western-most point of mainland Europe - does not have congestion problems on either the land or the maritime side of operations. Over and above this the port also provides weekly feeder services and railway connections to all the large centres of trade and industry in Portugal, Spain and Morocco, offering transit times of two to seven days.
