Shining with innovative ideas

A female approach in a male-dominated profession won the day in the tertiary education sector's Port of the Future 2020 competition. Practical knowledge characterised an analysis carried out by students of the Baden Wurttemberg Cooperative State University. Anna Katharina Freund, Dominique Fink, Jennifer Kriiger, Lisa Rublack and Claudia Heuer (front row from the left in the picture) convinced the jury in the latest edition of the university-level competition Port of the Future 2020, which scrutinised activities in Rheinports, an inland port alliance between Schweizerische Ha'fen (the inland port of Basel on the Rhine), Rheinhafengesellschaft Weil am Rhein (Rhine port company) and the Ports de Mulhouse-Rhin. The winners' profound knowledge of matters, and their wellpresented and practical concepts, shone through in their presentation at the Transport Logistic 2011 trade fair in Munich. The winners and part-time students are being trained in DB Schenker (Lisa Rub- lack) and Dachser Kelsterbach (Jennifer Kriiger), and impressed the jury primarily with their in-depth analysis of the state of the inland port association and a resulting oreanrsationai model.
