Rotterdam port authority names Paul Smits as financial director

The port of Rotterdam has a new financial director. Paul Smits is set to join the Dutch maritime hub as chief financial officer on 1 June, moving from the Dutch telecommunications corporation KPN. The CFO's post had been vacant since Thessa Menssen moved to the post of the port authority's chief operational officer on 1 January this year. The Port of Rotterdam Authority has a three-man board. Hans Smits (not related) is the body's chief executive officer. With the appointment of Paul Smits by the shareholders (the municipality of Rotterdam and the state), the board is again complete. The new CFO studied mathematics and held various top executive posts during his career at KPN, including CFO of KPN's business market unit and manager of its shared service centres.
