Silk Way and World Airways serve the US army

World Airways, a subsidiary of the USA's Global Aviation Holdings, and the Azerbaijani full-freighter operator Silk Way Airlines, have signed a cooperation agreement to provide outsized airfreight services to the US military. The agreement, which became operational in January, makes use of Silk Way's Ilyushin IL-76 aircraft to provide the services. Global Aviation Holdings' chairman and chief executive officer Rob Binns said that «Silk Way's experience and expertise in handling outsized cargo, especially to non-traditional destinations, is a great addition to our military support programme.» Charter operator World Airways has been supporting US military operations since 1955.
