Winning bidders chosen for $US 22.5bn Riyadh metro project

Arriyadh development Authority (ADA) announced the winning bidders on July 28 for design and build contracts worth almost $US 22.5bn for the construction of a 176.7km six-line automated metro network in the Saudi capital Riyadh. The Bechtel-led BACS consortium will build the 39km Line 1 (Blue) from Al Yasmin to Ad Dar Al Baida and Al Hayer Road, and Line 2 (Green) which will run for 25km along King Abdullah Road from King Saud University to King Pahd International Stadium. The consortium includes Almabani General Contractors, Consolidated Contractors Company, Aecom and Siemens, and the contract has a total value of $US 9.45bn.
