Jean Hillier and Patsy Healey have done the planning discipline a great service in producing these three volumes of writings on planning theory. They provide a resource to dip into, a set of developments to work through and a series of selections to compare and contrast. Ideally, they should be read as a whole but it is perhaps inevitable that such a work would be divided into volumes and then parts and, therefore, I will begin this review by considering Volume 3 part by part.
