Regeneration of British cities is a complex subject. Given the vast range of activities that come under the banner of 'regeneration', providing an insightful narrative is an endeavour that can easily either 'lose the plot' or remain strongly illustrative of a singular point of view. This book succeeds in providing a grounded and thoughtful narrative of current regeneration attempts in UK that is masterfully executed. The style of writing is economical and suggestive with a good optimal chapter size more or less consistently adhered to. Within 141 pages, John McCarthy succeeds in providing an account of regeneration in Dundee and through it a knowledgeable introduction to regeneration in the UK in general.
