EdgeTech, USA, reports it has completed the delivery of two 2400 Deep Tow combined sidescan sonar and sub-bottom profiling systems. The systems, DT-1 and DT-2, have operational depths of 3000 metres and 6000 metres respectively and can operate on a fibre optic or coaxial cable up to ten kilometres long. The 2400 Deep Tow provides high-resolution deep-sea surveys, using co-registered sidescan sonar and sub-bottom imagery. Optional bathymetry data is also available. Survey companies and research institutes use the system to map pipe routes and to search for precious metals such as manganese nodules.
