As Vietnam seeks to forge a path towards regional and global economic integration, profound social and spatial changes are taking place by process of rapid urbanization, increasing marginalization and generating new social inequalities. In Saigon's Edge, based on long-term fieldwork carried out in Hoc Mon, an outer district of the metropolitan area of Ho Chi Minh City - Vietnam's largest urban and economic center - anthropologist Erik Harms scrutinizes people's stories and practices in everyday life, seeking to reveal the complexity of actual marginalization processes.
