摘要

This paper investigates the theoretical and experimental performance of three small-scale, rooftop wind energy conversion systems. Three windmills installed at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, were compared for one year to determine which had the best performance and which would be more practical in an urban setting. The three turbines used were rated at 1.5 kW, 500W, and 300W. At the Lowell site, an array of 500W turbines is the best choice based on criteria of annual energy production.
