Although research analysts at Gartner recently predicted that global IT spending is on track to reach $3.6 trillion in 2012 (an increase of 3 percent over 2011 spending of $3.5 trillion), they said it shows a "lackluster growth outlook for overall IT spending." At this rate, an estimated 46 percent of IT managers and their staffs are still either making do with the same budget they had in 2011, or have been allocated less.
