The notorious Cambridge spies are back in the news because the manuscript of Anthony Blunt's memoirs was made public last year by the British Library in London, twenty-five years after it was deposited under an embargo. The slim document, amounting to some 30,000 words, revealed nothing new and, contrary to fevered media expectations, did not incriminate any other individuals. Indeed, the one spy he recruited during World War II and ran personally, his former student Leo Long, is not mentioned by name and is referred to only obliquely.
