Designing Effective Teaching and Learning Environments for a New Generation of Analysts

The Intelligence Community (IC) confronts an increasing demand for analysts able to effectively assess the complexities and implications of new as well as old threat issues for a dynamic world environment. At the same time, the IC grapples with the accelerating departure of its most experienced analytic cadre. The greening of the analytic community places an increased burden upon those charged with ensuring that academically qualified individuals become competent intelligence analysts. This challenge highlights the importance of understanding how to ensure that intelligence analysis (IA) training is effective, how to improve analytic training, and how to refine analytic competence throughout a career.
