Getting Things Wrong Again

A New York Times front-page article ("Funeral of 2 Friends: Secret War's Toll on C.I.A.," 7 September 2017) confirms the point I made in my article "Tech Stars on the Wall" in the Spring 2018 issue of IJIC (Vol. 31, No. 1, pp. 126-138), namely that the media has a particular fascination with the CIA's Memorial Wall and its growing constellation of Stars commemorating the CIA's honored dead. The New York Times piece also demonstrates that the media, while focusing on individual stories, generally botches the bigger issues involving intelligence activities.
