Norsk Hydro signs MoU for Angolan hydro project

The Government of Angola has signed a memorandum of understanding with Norway's Norsk Hydro to explore the feasibility of developing 750 to 1000 MW of hydropower as part of an integrated project with aluminum production facilities. The agreement was signed on 5 May by Minister of Energy Emanuela Viera Lopes, Vice Minister of Industry Kiala Ngone Gabriel and Norsk Hydro VicernPresident, Arvid Moss. It follows the presentation in November 2005 by Norsk Hydro of a project for the construction of a hydropower station, electricity transmission lines, an aluminium smelter, as well as an evaluation of available natural gas.
