Statkraft inaugurates its first Turkish project

The Norwegian State-owned power company Statkraft, has officially commissioned a new hydro power-plant in the Karaisal1 district of Turkey's southern city of Adana. The 20 MW run-of-river project was inaugurated at a ceremony held on 12 October, by Taner Yildiz, Turkey's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources. The Cak1t plant, on the Cak1t river in Kapikaya, represents the company's first investment in Turkey. The plant is expected to generate average annual output of 95 GWh, which will meet the electricity sup- ply requirements of nearly 32 000 households.
