摘要

The independent power producer Tembo Power of Mauritius has signed a joint development agreement with South African private equity fund manager Metier, for the 14.7 MW Kaptis small hydropower project in Kenya. The agreement, which will involve Metier taking a 40 per cent equity stake alongside Tembo Power (40 per cent) and South Africa's WK Construction, a construction and engineering contractor (20 per cent), paves the way for the next stage of the development of the run-of-river project, Tembo Power said on 18 March. With equity fully secured, Tembo Power said that development finance institutions were now being appointed for senior debt, with the aim of achieving financial closure and the start of construction later this year. The project will cost around US$ 44 million, to be funded through a combination of debt (70 per cent) and equity (30 per cent).
