摘要

The Komarnica river is the main tributary of the Piva river, which has significant hydropower potential. With the construction of the Piva storage dam and hydro plant, which has a normal water level at el. 675, and has been in operation since 1976, a significant part of the hydropower potential has been exploited. Development of the upstream hydro potential of the Komarnica river was studied in 1988 by Elektro-projekt of Ljubljana, Slovenia, as part of the 'Study of Alternative Solutions for Dam Profiles'. In this study, possible plans for the Komarnica hydropower plant were considered and defined at a level which enabled a preliminary assessment and comparison of technical, energy-related and economic variants, and commitment to the optimal profile for the plant, as a basis for the further design phases. This optimal solution determined the construction of Komarnica in the Lonci district, about 45 km upstream from the Piva plant, and with its normal water level to be at el. 818 (which was later amended to el. 816).
