DRINKING WATER SUPPLY AND SANITATION IN RURAL AREAS: A REVIEW

Rural water supply and rural sanitation facilities are essential ingredients in the total programme for rural development. There are many other allied elements which go into the total process of rural development. These include infrastructural aspects like land management, soil conservation, aforestation, and so on. The rural masses are still waging a hard struggle in order to meet their minimum needs like safe drinking water, food and shelter. The development measures adopted by the governments of developing countries like India to solve the problem of mass poverty unfolded numerous tendencies of alarming nature.
