ESTIMATION OF ACREAGE RESPONSE OF WHEAT IN MARATHWADA REGION

The wheat growers is Aurangabad, Nanded and Osmanabad districts have positively responded to wheat prices. The negative impact of relative price variable on wheat acreage is found in case of Parbhani and Beed districts, and for Marathwada region as a whole. The relative yield variable has exerted positive, but not significant, bearing on acreage under wheat in Aurangabad and Osmanabad districts, and for Marathwada as a whole. And negative in Parbhani, Beed and Nanded districts. The irrigation has negatively affected the area under wheat in almost all the districts (except Beed), and for Marathwada as a whole, but more severely, in Aurangabad district.
