A Taxonomy and Survey of Power Management Strategies in Cloud Data Centers

摘要

In recent years, Cloud computing has obtained popularity to offer utility-oriented IT services to global users over the internet. Cloud computing is a paradigm to develop scalable on-demand virtualized resources based on a pay-as-you-go model. Due to the rapid growth of the cloud services and technologies, a serious concern for cloud data centers is a huge amount of energy consumption. This paper provides an overview of the initial challenges for the energy consumption of data centers under QoS constraints in Cloud environments. Then, taxonomy of existing solutions along with their most typical features, benefits and challenges are presented. This taxonomy comprises the core approaches and techniques in enersv-efficiencv in cloud data centers, emphasizing on VM consolidation algorithms.
