摘要

In this paper, the authors propose a novel approach for people identification using the palm vein decomposition method. The complete system consists of Image acquisition, Noise (Hair) removal & Image enhancement, Vein pattern segmentation, Skeletonization and pattern matching. The images are acquired using NIR imaging method. Rol, noise removal, image thresholding, image binarization and image skeletonization steps are carried out on each image. Feature extraction was carried out using our novel Vein Pattern Decomposition (VPD). A database of 2640 images of 55 subjects has been created for testing. The performance evaluation is carried out in terms of FAR and FRR. VPD is a novel approach used for building this practical real time system for people authentication.
