through fibre engineering, i.e. development of new generic types of fibres. It can be assumed that innovative manufacturing and finishing processes, applied to conventional fibres, will result in their added value, so that they can be used to design new fabrics of pre-determined end-use properties. Such improvements in fibre properties and their use in fabric manufacture of added market value and broader scope of application are completely in accordance with the intentions of the European technological platform for future textile and garment, but it can also strongly stimulate the development of Croatian textile industry and its comptetitiveness in the global market.
