Eni sells pipe stakes for $1.15bn

Italy's Eni has agreed to sell its stakes in the Swiss Transitgas and German TENP gas pipelines to Fluxys G, the main owner Belgian gas transporter, for a total of some $1.15 billion. The deal forms part of Eni's moves to comply with a binding agreement last year with the European Commission to settle an EU antitrust probe into its abuse of import pipelines into Italy. The EC launched an antitrust probe in 2007, charging that Eni was restricting competitor access. The latest transaction comprises Eni's stakes in asset owners TENP KG (49%) and Transitgas AG (46%) as well as Eni's interests as transmission system operator in both assets.
