Petrobras, Statoil raise sights

Petrobras and Norway's Statoil have expanded their upstream partnership. The two companies signed a letter of intent signaling an increase in joint exploration and promised more detailed studies into how they could operate together. The letter was signed at an event marking the first oil drilled from the Peregrino oil field offshore Brazil. Statoil has a 60% stake in and operates the field, which is 85 km off the Rio coast.
