India, Qatar revise LNG contract

India’s Petronet LNG Ltd. (PLL) and Qatar’s RasGas havernagreed revisions to their 25-year contract for 7.5 million mtrnper year of LNG. The deal reduces the previously-agreedrnprice by about half from January 2016.rnIndian Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan called itrna “win-win” deal for both sides. RasGas will supply PLL withrnan additional 1 million mt/year during the remainder of therncontract term, which runs to 2029.rnPLL will gain through a waiver of the Rs120 billion ($1.8rnbillion) penalty it incurred under the take-or-pay contractrnby short-lifting LNG in 2015 by about a third. It has agreedrnto make up the shortfall during the remainder of therncontract period.
