Bank of Qincdao, the largest city commercial lender in Shandong, won approval from the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong last week for its proposed IPO of about US$700m. The lender has no plans to start pre-marketing right away as the appetite of investors for bank IPOs is still weak, according to sources close to the deal. Citic CLSA and Goldman Sachs are the joint sponsors. At least two other city commercial lenders, Bank of Zhengzhou and China Zheshang Bank, are to seek approval for similar listings this year. Bank of Zhengzhou plans to raise US$700m and China Zheshang's target is USSlbn. Bank of Qingdao posted net earnings of Rmbl.5bn (US$234m) for 2014 and Rmbl.07bn for the first six months of 2015, according to a regulatory filing.
