European swap spreads narrowed sharply in recent days, after a sell-off in European sovereign bond markets offset the impact of central bank quantitative easing. The rally may mark the start of a normalisation in the European swap markets, which, since the launch of European QE, has surprised analysts by failing to respond to monetary loosening in line with the experience of the US and UK.
