DoJ may go easier on Moody's

The US Department of Justice may go easier on Moody's than on S&P over the rating of residential mortgage bonds ahead of the financial crisis, an analyst said. While S&P has agreed to a US$1.37bn settlement with the DoJ, 19 states and the District of Columbia over allegations that it gave better ratings on some RMBS and CDOs to win more business, Moody's could receive more lenient treatment.
