Asahi croup is raising a bridge loan to fund its entire €7.3bn acquisition of five eastern European beer brands from Anheuser-Busch InBev, in what is the largest overseas acquisition of beer operations by a Japanese brewer. Asahi has agreed with AB InBev to buy brands including Pilsner Urquell from the Czech Republic, Poland's Tyskie and Lech, Hungary's Dreher and Romania's Ursus, which had annual Ebitda of €493.8m in the year to the end of March.
