DTCC plans dual-track repo expansion

The depository trust & clearing corporation aims to extend its repo clearing service to institutional clients by mid-year as part of an attempt to ease the mechanism by which collateral is moved around the system. The public comment period on a regulatory filing that would expand the DTCC's sponsored membership programme at its fixed income clearing corporation drew to a close last week. Approval, which is expected in the next two weeks, would open the clearing platform to a broader range of buyside clients acting as cash lenders. A second filing, for which the comment period closes later this month, would allow institutional cash lenders to become direct members of the triparty gcf repo platform.
