Bain dips toe in Italy

Bain Capital Credit has become the latest major alternative investor to buy up Italian non-performing loans. It has agreed to buy the Italian parts of heta asset resolution, the bad bank of defunct Austrian regional lender Hypo Alpe Adria. As well as acquiring a portfolio of leasing loans, both performing and non-performing, with a face value of €570m, Bain will also pick up a servicing platform, giving it a base from which to acquire more assets in the Italian market The unit employs 90 people in Italy.
