BANK OF AMERICA broke with market tradition last week, declining to call a callable perp in a move that many bondholders actually welcomed. It was a rare move for a US money centre bank when BofA opted to pay a floating-rate spread and not call its US$6bn 8% perp non-call 10 preferred notes, which become callable on January 30.
