SenseTime, long viewed as an IPO candidate, recently held internal and external discussions about a potential Hong Kong float. The company, known in particular for its controversial facial recognition software, is open to the idea of a dual listing in Hong Kong and Shanghai but it is unclear at this stage whether the two can happen at the same time, the people said. "The Star board is the best venue for SenseTime's potential A-share listing. However, Chinese regulators have recently issued tighter rules for Star listings, which has slowed the pace of listings on the board. It may take SenseTime longer than expected to list domestically," said one of the people.
