Rosatom explores more sustainable financing

Russian state nuclear company ROSATOM has raised USS300m through two sustainability-linked loans from a Russian bank to help finance the construction of nuclear reactors in Turkey in a move that highlights the debate over the role of nuclear energy in the transition to a low-carbon economy. Rosatom has raised two seven-year bilateral loans with Sovcombank to part-finance the US$20bn Akkuyu nuclear power plant project in Turkey, which is one of the world's largest nuclear new-build projects and part of Rosatom's US$140bn 10-year project pipeline of 36 reactors in 12 countries.
