BARCLAYS has changed the two top people in its investment bank, appointing Paul Compton as global head of banking and CS Venkatakrishnan, currently its chief risk officer, as head of markets. The changes will broaden the experience of Compton and Venkatakrishnan and lines the two men - both former JP Morgan executives - as the internal frontrunners to succeed Jes Staley as chief executive when he leaves, industry sources said. But they said Staley is not likely to leave for a couple more years.
