Capital markets week ahead: Chinese IPOs, Dow Chemical, Credit Suisse

TEMPERATURE CHECK With the US denying entry to anyone that has recently visited China, now perhaps isn't the best time for companies from the country to launch a New York IPO. But two issuers will do exactly that this week, in what will be a big test of risk appetite towards China amid acute uncertainty about the spread and economic impact of the coronavirus epidemic. First up is Citic Capital Acquisition, an energy-focused special purpose acquisition company that hopes to raise US$200m after the close on Monday. Next up on Tuesday is Shenzhen-based insurance fintech Huize, which is looking to raise more than US$50m from its listing on the Nasdaq. Curiously, Morgan Stanley has dropped out of the syndicate, although it isn't clear why.
