Indian SMEs face funding challenges, says S&P

Nearly 200 small and mid-sized Indian enterprises with high leverage and persistent negative free cashflows will be vulnerable to funding and liquidity challenges over the next 12-18 months, rating agency Standard & Poor's said in a report published on Tuesday. The report points to 190 companies, mainly from the construction, steel, textile, and real estate sectors, that have poor debt coverage metrics and continue to roll over large amounts of short-term debt in a tight credit environment.
