Softbank-backed Vir Biotechnologies files for IPO

October is shaping up to be a big month for biotech IPOs, even if only one deal prices next month. Infectious disease unicorn vir biotechnologies is leading the way with a deal that could challenge Moderna as the largest biotech IPO of all time. The draft registration statement was filed on June 27, six months after it raised US$327m privately in January with Softbank Vision Fund and other investors. JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs and Cowen are the joint bookrunners to a US$100m placeholder.
