The UK's largest mortgage lender has turned to securitisation to shift the extra risks associated with growing its book of high loan-to-value (LTV) mortgages. lloyds bank priced syon securities On Tuesday, buying protection on a £1.08bn portfolio of mortgages with LTVs of between 90% and 95%. Increased competition - partly driven by ring-fencing - has led UK banks to increase lending to this higher profit, but higher risk, section of the market.
