Public sector issuers opting to tap the US dollar market were able to leverage the relative lack of supply in the currency to pay minimal concessions, in sharp contrast with the euro and sterling markets, where a deluge of issuance forced premiums higher. "In a typical January, you might get US$40bn-plus of SSA supply in the dollar market," said a debt capital markets banker.
