Air France Launches 'Emissions Calculator,' Plans Partnerships With Offset Providers

Paris—Air France July 13 launched an online "carbon dioxide emission calculator" that allows users to estimate emissions linked to air travel and air freight. Air France Chief Executive Jean-Cyril Spinetta told an annual shareholders' meeting that the device was part of the company's wider effort to mitigate climate change. The tool bases its calculations on the actual performance of aircraft flying to a given destination, allowing customers to make transportation choices or to buy carbon offsets, Spinetta said. Air France plans to establish partnerships in the coming weeks with organizations that develop or manage carbon offsets and will enable customers to use this service at their discretion.
