A California-based company faces fines of up to $37,500 per day for trying to illegally export cathode ray tubes to Hong Kong and then refusing to comply with a federal order to manage the electronic waste properly, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said Jan. 20.rnThe agency said ZKW Trading Ltd. tried to ship the CRTs to Hong Kong for recycling and disposal in June 2009. Hong Kong customs officials rejected the shipment, which was labeled "plastic scrap," EPA said in a news release.
