Mexico Announces U.N. Workshop on Impact Of Climate Change on Water Resources

Mexico will host a United Nations-sponsored workshop in July to consider climate change's impact on water resources and ways to adapt to the effects, for example through better governance and infrastructure planning, a Mexican official told BNA March 13. Estrellita Fuentes, foreign affairs manager for Mexico's federal water commission (CONAGUA), said the workshop, "Water and the Effects of Climate Change and Strategies to Adapt to Climate Change," will be a joint effort between CONAGUA and the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change. "Climate change's most [recognizable] impact on people is through water, and developing countries are already dealing with its effects," Fuentes said.
