China's State Council, or Cabinet, has announced plans to offer subsidies and tax incentives to promote coalbed methane extraction and use. The council said in a Sept. 22 statement that approvals for power generation, land use, grid connection, licensing and the conduct of environmental impact assessments for coal bed methane projects should be "further simplified" to accelerate the development process.
