China Issues New Emissions Standards for Light Vehicles, Brick and Tile Industry

China's Ministry of Environmental Protection has issued new emissions standards for gasoline- and diesel-powered light passenger vehicles and the brick and tile industry. The tailpipe standards-known as China V, the Chinese equivalent of the European Union's Euro classification system-will be required for all light passenger vehicles sold or registered on or after Jan. 1, 2018, replacing China Ⅲ and China Ⅳ standards, the ministry said on its website Sept. 17.
