China will cut central government subsidies toward purchases of new energy vehicles over the next two years, but less than previously expected, a notice issued by the State Council, the country's top decision-making body, said. In its Feb. 8 notice, the council said the subsidies for new or alternative energy vehicles-which include all-electric, plug-in hybrid and fuel-cell passenger vehicles-will be cut by 5 percent in 2014 and by 10 percent in 2015, both compared to 2013 levels, instead of a previously expected 10 percent and 20 percent cut, respectively.
