Germany is considering amendments to the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act that would introduce the inclusion of solar modules and have large retailers and online stores shoulder some responsibility for collecting and recycling old electrical and electronic equipment. The bill from the German Environment Ministry, published March 11, is scheduled for its first reading in the lower house of Parliament, the Bundestag, in May. It is intended to increase the volume of waste electrical and electronic equipment legally collected, recycled and disposed of in Germany to integrate guidelines set out in the EU's 2012 Directive (2012/19/EU) into law.
