France Adds Energy Audits, Sanction for Noncompliance With Emissions Reporting

France imposed a wrist-slap sanction on big companies and other organizations that fail to report their greenhouse gas emissions, and it provided details on a new requirement for companies to undergo energy audits. Segolene Royal, France's minister of ecology, sustainable development and energy, presented a draft law June 15 that ratifies a December 2015 ordinance to update requirements on greenhouse gas emissions reporting that the Grenelle environment framework law created in 2010 and took effect in 2012.
